Photograph of an exterior view of the Brunson (Bronson?) Mansion on the northwest corner of South Grand Avenue and Fourth Street, 1880-1896. The massive Victorian home is on a hill at center and is facing slightly to the right. A wraparound covered porch can be seen on the first floor, while several balconies can be seen on the second. A brick chimney protrudes from the roof at left, and several decorative spires can be seen as well. The hill in front of the house is held up by a brick retaining wall and small mounds of dirt are laid out on it in an orderly pattern. Note on back of print: "Copied from book, 'Los Angeles Architecturally' (1896) in Los Angeles City Public Library." |
