IT MISSIONARY MOTIVE AND KOREAN

(Translation of article written for Christian Religious
Education Magazine, Seoul, Korea, Dec. 1930, Jan. & Feb. 1931)
Come and hear, all ye that fear God, and I will declare what
he hath done for my soul. Ps.66:l6. Sing praises to the Lord;
declare among the people his doings. Ps."*9:ll.
In telling my experiences, let us remember
same kind of clay every man is, *nd let us thi
Lord of glory. It makes no difference whether
you meet and remember him.

One day during an Spworth League Convention in California
our assistant pastor was leading a testimony meeting. After I
had stood up and spoken of the^things God had done for my soul,
our assistant pastor added: "Victor Peters would not be worth
anything except for what the Lord has done for him.*1 Whenever
I see a poor wretched sinner I must think as a great Christian
once said, "But for:the grace of God, I should have been that
man.
I began life after the flesh September 29, 1902, but if God
had not done something for me later on, you would never hear of
that. The more important matter is that I was born again Jan.
7, 1922. From the time I was two months old I hardly missed a
Sunday at church. My parents always did their buying previously
on Saturday *nd mother prepared Sunday dinner beforehand so that
we could all go to church and have our minds free for worship.
My father was Sunday School superintendent and my mother a Sunday
School teacher and leader in the missionary society, and they

early taught me to pray and read the Bible. Before I can remember

I prayed every night °t my mother's knee, and for some time I
memorized a verse of Scripture every day. One of my early recollections is of mv grandfather's fervent preaching in a revival.
