Description
Photograph of assayers at a tin mine in Santa Ana, [s.d.]. Three men are standing in a large wooden room at center. One of the men is examining a piece of tin while the others lean on shelves behind him. Two of the men are wearing dark shirts and hats, while the third is wearing a light-colored shirt. There is a small furnace on a table at right with a chimney that extends to the ceiling, and several large rocks can be seen on tables and shelves through the room A large open window is at left, while a closed window is at right.

California Historical Society Collection, 1860-1960
Description
The California Historical Society Collection is incomparable for the documentary picture it provides of the growth of Southern California, particularly the development of the Los Angeles region, between 1860 and 1960. The collection contains more than 25,000 photographs. The full archive was placed on long-term deposit at USC in 1990 and includes the Title Insurance and Trust Company Collection, also known as TICOR, and the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection.
