Photograph of a view of Seventh Street looking west from Spring Street, Los Angeles, ca.1915. Automobiles, horse-drawn carriages and streetcars make their way along a paved street, two nearly identical high rise buildings flanking it to either side in the foreground. Two women make their way across the intersection at center. More high rise buildings can be seen stretching off into the distance advertising with signs affixed to their sides. Legible signs include: "Smoke El Tem[...]", "Hotel", "Express/ Where Everyman Goes", "Meat Market", "S. Lewis Ladies' Tailor", "Mitchell's Chiropra[...]", "A. Greene & Son", as well as a sign on one of the streetcars which reads "Stevenson Ave.".

Description
The nearly 15,000 unique photographs of this collection contain the work of C.C. Pierce which cover the Los Angeles region city, street and architectural views, California Missions, Southwestern Native Americans, and turn-of-century Nevada, Arizona, and California. Pierce, active from 1886 to 1940, was one of the leading photographers of his day and amassed a collection of 15,000 images, including his own and those bought and copied from his contemporaries, George Wharton James and Charles Puck. The James collection contains over 2,000 images of portraits, customs, ceremonies, arts, and games of various groups of Southwestern Native Americans.
