Description
Photograph of an exterior view of the Golden State Silk Mills in Hermosa Beach, ca.1925. The side of a long building is visible in the foreground with tall windows lining the walls and a ventilation system sticking out of the center of the roof. Two buildings sit perpendicular behind the first building. The first building has a slanted roof while the two building behind it have a flatter roof with slanted sides. In the background, houses sparsely cover what appears to be a hillside.

Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960
Description
The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
