Description
Photograph of a train crossing over the Santa Ana River in Riverside, ca.1904. What appears to be a steam engine locomotive with at least eight passenger cars is visible at center, moving across a multi-arched bridge beneath it, over what appears to be a dried up river bed in the foreground. There is a visible mountain ridge in the distance.; "The bridge was built by the San Pedro, Los Angeles and Salt Lake Railroad. It was completed in 1904. The bridge is still in use by the Union Pacific Railroad which became sole owner of the SP, LA & SL in 1921 (source: The Los Angeles and Salt Lake Railroad Company, John R. Signor, 1988, Golden West Books)".
