Description
Photograph of men coaling on the deck of the H.I.M.S. Sapa, a Japanese tanker at Los Angeles Harbor, October 15, 1928. Smokestacks, masts, and lines can be seen on the deck of the ship at left. A crane can be seen at center lifting a large object, while a flag flies from the front of the ship. A man can be seen standing to the left of center near tracks looking at the ship. The back of the train on the tracks reads, "UCR 20753" while a building in the right background reads, "Bert[...] Outer Harbor". Containers filled with what appears to be coal can be seen at right.
