Description
Photograph of a drawing by Henry Chapman Ford, depicting an exterior view of the Mission San Gabriel, ca.1900. The mission's thing two-story adobe wall is pictured, the steps leading to the entrance on the second floor visible to the right. Column-like ridges are spaced at regular intervals along the wall, apparently for structural support. One arched doorway is visible a little in from the steps, while a second is visible to the far left under the mission's bells, which are situated in portholes along the wall. The terracotta-tiled roof of the mission's cloister are visible attached to the wall to the far left. Trees stand in front. Mountains can be seen in the right background.
