On top of the wagon, two blacksmiths can be seen working near a large bellows. A sign on the wagon reads "On my way to Bill Hoppers Blacksmith Shop". A crowd of people can be seen lining the far side of the paved road. Automobiles can be seen parked in a lot in the background, while a streetcar is visible in hte foreground at right.; Legible signs include, from left: "Train and work in Hollywood", "Time to Study Hollywood Secretarial School", "Cafe", and "Hollywoodvale".

Title California Historical Society Collection, 1860-1960

Description The California Historical Society Collection is incomparable for the documentary picture it provides of the growth of Southern California, particularly the development of the Los Angeles region, between 1860 and 1960. The collection contains more than 25,000 photographs. The full archive was placed on long-term deposit at USC in 1990 and includes the Title Insurance and Trust Company Collection, also known as TICOR, and the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection.
