Description
Photograph of composite of two views of Bolivar Park and Colina de la Popa in Cartagena, Colombia, [s.d.]. In the top image, a wide street can be seen in the extreme foreground extending from left to right. On the sidewalk adjacent to the street, three empty benches can be seen at left. To the right, several individuals can be seen sitting on the benches and standing on the sidewalk. At center, several more benches can be seen near a clearing with large palm trees on either side. At the center of the clearing, a large statue of a man riding a horse is visible. Caption below the image reads: "Cartagena, Colombia--Bolivar Park-- 'Parque Bolivar', balconies of the old inquisition visible on other side of park".; In the bottom image in the extreme foreground, a wide barren field is visible extending into the far background. In the background, several rectangular structures can be seen extending from left to right. Utility poles are also visible on the right. In the extreme background, a large mountain can be seen descending sharply to the right. Caption on bottom of image reads: "Cartagena, Colombia -- Colima de la Popa, 'The Pope's Hill' ". (Please note that "Colima" is a misspelled version of "colina" which means "hill" in Spanish). Photo sleeve reads: "Copied from prints of Edgar Lloyd Hampton".

California Historical Society Collection, 1860-1960
Description
The California Historical Society Collection is incomparable for the documentary picture it provides of the growth of Southern California, particularly the development of the Los Angeles region, between 1860 and 1960. The collection contains more than 25,000 photographs. The full archive was placed on long-term deposit at USC in 1990 and includes the Title Insurance and Trust Company Collection, also known as TICOR, and the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection.
