Description
Photograph of a view of Death Valley Road near Bennet Wells, Death Valley, California, ca.1930. An early automobile loaded at the back with sacks makes its way across the desert via two deep grooves in the sand, precisely the width apart of car wheels. A third, more narrow groove can be seen on the mound between them, probably worn by car axles. Although most of the terrain in the foreground is just sand, low-growing vegetation extends from three quarters of the way up the photo towards the horizon.
