Description
Photograph of a view of Los Angeles, showing the Sisters School on Macy Street, ca.1876. Flat-roofed, one-story facility buildings form and angular crescent around a courtyard of trees in the front center right, surrounded by a picket fence. The roof of a slightly bigger facility building is visible with its three chimneys behind and to the left. The tops of more buildings, these with slanted roofs, are situated in the background in no apparent order. Furthest back in the city, a flat-faced, four-story building stands to the left, taller than the rest of the buildings in the image. A plain peppered with shrubs is visible in the distance, along with mountains. The tops of both a tree and a house are visible in the extreme foreground across the street from the courtyard.
