Description
Photograph of a drawing by Edward Vischer depicting Indian hovels at the Palm Group of Lower San Diego Valley, ca.1874. The drawing, which appears to be drawn in charcoal or a soft pencil shows American Indians descending the hill to the right to meet their fellows in a canoe placed in the river that runs through the center of the image. Several other Native Americans situate themselves beneath a cluster of palm trees to the right on the hill. More hills are visible to the left, and the sun, or the moon, hangs veiled in the sky.
