Description

Photograph of an aerial view of the Los Angeles City Court House, [s.d.]. The large Gothic building can be seen at center. It has dark stone walls with ivy growing up the front of the building. Rows of arched windows are visible, and a wide cylindrical tower can be seen in the middle of the building. A tall rectangular clock tower can be seen near the back of the structure. The Hall of Records and the justice department can be seen at right and left. Automobiles are visible on the streets around the buildings.

Title Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960

Description The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
