Photograph of an automobile camp in Southern California, ca.1930. To the left of the center, the back view of an automobile is visible and a tent is observable standing to its left. Behind it, in the left background, additional automobiles and tents can be seen next to a few trees. Small bushes and trees are visible in the foreground along a paved road.; A sign can be seen standing on the corner of a sidewalk which reads: "Sycamore Grove", "Free camping grounds for motorists", "City of Los Angeles", and "Auto Club So Cal".

Title Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960

Description The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
