Photograph of an exterior view of St. Vincent's Hospital in Los Angeles from Sunset Boulevard, 1937. The tall hospital can be seen at center. It is a eight-story structure with light-colored walls and a flat roof. Rows of rectangular windows are visible on all the walls, and a staircase can be seen through the windows at left. In the foreground, many cars are parked along the sides of intersecting paved roads. Several palm trees and large bushes can be seen around the hospital building.

Description The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
