Description
Photograph of a lithograph depicting the Mission San Luis Rey de Francia, ca.1900. Missionaries and civilians stand in the clearing of the foreground, some on foot, some on horses. The mission itself stands in the background, the church to the right, flanked to either side by two bell towers. An arched entranceway stands at the center of the wall in front of it. To the left, a cloister extends from the church, a long one-story stretch lined to one side by trees. Two gnarled trees stand in the left foreground, under which a mother, child and three other civilians can be seen next to a pile of cut lumber.
