Description
Photograph of City Gardens on the corner of San Pedro and Eighth Streets, Los Angeles, ca.1896. The garden, established in 1878 is visible behind an approximately three-foot tall picket fence which sports a gate covered by an archway that reads "City Gardens". Two basic craftsman-style buildings with clapboard veneer are mostly obscured by several tall trees, above which a weathervain showing signs of disrepair can be seen. An unpaved road runs across the foreground.
