Description
Photograph of a view of Red Rock Canyon with a man standing at the foot of cliffs, Death Valley, California, ca.1900/1950. The silhouette of a man standing on the ground at center is dwarfed by the massive rock face behind him, approximately thirty times his size. At center, a large, smooth pillar of rock with a beveled edge extends up into the rock face of which it is a part. It is flanked to either side by columns of flute rock formations, which rise to the softer soil piled on top of the rock face where low-growing vegetation can be seen.
