Stewart, Union Oil Company vice president and chairman of the chamber's building committee. -- 'The Chamber's 5200 member firms and 14,000 individual members will contribute to the funds for the new headquarters building,' Stewart stated. 'The drive for the funds will open Monday.' -- 'Organized in 1888, the Chamber has given 66 years of outstanding community service and has occupied its present quarters at 1151 South Broadway since 1925.' -- The new building will have 40,000 square feet of floor space in its two stories, with a 200-car parking lot. Inside the building will be a 62-seat board room, three 50-seat committee rooms and six 25-seat conference rooms, expandable to larger capacity. -- It will be of modern California architecture and its central location near the major freeway interchange will afford easy access from all parts of the community, Stewart pointed out. -- Work will start as soon as sufficient funds are available, he added." -- Examiner clipping attached to verso, dated 26 April 1954.; Photograph (1955) of a drawing.
