Description

Photograph of an exterior view of a house on a "one acre farm" on Grand Avenue, October 20, 1930. The small house can be seen at center. It has a flat roof and large rectangular windows can be seen around the perimeter of the building. A covered porch can be seen at center. At right, a small overhang is visible, while a windsock can be seen on the roof at left. Several large bushes can be seen in the foreground.

Title Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960

Description The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
