Description
Photograph of an exterior view of the Juan Baldini residence, San Diego, 1915. The large two-story adobe extends from out of frame in the right foreground to the left background, where a second building can be seen. A tree at center obscures much of building. The house features a decoratively-railed second floor balcony which shades the first floor porch. Several doors can be seen along the first floor wall, with two windows flanking the rightmost door. A trellis is visible on the upper story to the right from behind the tree. Several small gardens stand to the left and the right of the porch steps, surrounded by foot-high serrated borders. A potted plant sits at the top of the steps.; Picture file card reads: "Headquarters of Commodore Stockton during the Mexican War. Built as a one story adobe in 1829, with a second story added in 1868. Purchased by A.H. Seeley, and named The Cosmopolitan Hotel and run in conjunction with his Los Angeles and San Diego Stage Line.".
