Description
Photograph of a view of the monument of Luis Wolf, Temecula, ca.1900. The tomb-like monument is surrounded by a post-and-rail fence with ornate posts. To the right, a man leans in on a section of fence that appears to have been mended with scrap lumber. Inside, a tall obelisk is shown in front, with a long slab visible stretching behind it. The inscription reads "In memory of Luis Wolf, born in Alsase, July 27, 1833. Died September 13, 1887".; Picture file card reads "Howard says he was a hotel keeper in Temecula and had a son, Charles, in St. Vincent's College. The monument is entirely alone and presents an uncanny appearance in the gather shadows of evening. Has a commanding view of the valley below, out in a cattle pasture where only coyotes prowl".
