Description
Photograph of a close-up of three specimens of very large sugar beets on display, ca.1900-1910. They are standing upright next to each other leaning against a wall. Behind them, on two shelves is other produce displayed in jars of varying shape and size. A sign above the beets reads "80 tons, 160,000 pounds of these beets grew on one acre by Joseph McGregor, 6 miles from Sacramento without irrigation. These beets average 49 pounds each". One jar label reads "Sacramento [...] California".
