Description

Photograph of three men looking at Lake Arrowhead, ca.1950. The men can be seen standing side-by-side at center. The man in the center is only wearing a swimsuit and has his left leg propped up on a tree stump. Pine trees can be seen to the left and right of the men. The men are visible from behind since they are looking out at the lake at center. One person can be seen inside a canoe at center. Pine trees cover the mountain in the background.

Title Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960

Description The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
