Photograph of a view of the San Gabriel Auto Court on Valley Boulevard, August 1934. A wide gravel road can be seen at center. Two trees and a large circular planter can be seen in the middle of the road at center, while two automobiles are at right. Small adobe buildings with terracotta tile roofs can be seen around the road. A woman is standing at right between a car and a building. A large tree is visible in the foreground at right.

Title Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960

Description The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
