Photograph of a man fumigating a lemon orchard in Riverside County, ca.1938. The man stands on the back of a fumigation machine in a hat and lightly-colored shirt with his back facing the foreground. A hose extends from the back of the machine to beneath the lightly-colored tents which are draped over lemon trees on the left. The row of lemon trees on the right remain exposed.

Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960
Description
The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
