Description
Photograph of an exterior view on the Santa Margarita Ranch, San Diego, ca.1930. An adobe residence in two sections is shown in the left background, with a wide dirt road standing in the foreground. The main building of the residence appears to be roughly two-stories high, from which a long one-story adobe extends to the left, a chimney rising out of its terracotta-tiled roof. Two palm trees flank it to either side in the front courtyard, which is demarcated by a low iron-and-stone wall. More houses, built in the craftsman style, are visible in the distance to the right, beyond a picket fence and positioned in a depression lower than the adobe. Dry, low-growing vegetation is visible by the road in the extreme foreground.
