Description
Photograph of the steamer San Gabriel, later lost with her crew along the Mexican coast, ca.1900. The dark-hulled ship is at center, headed to the right. There is a small cabin amidships with a tall smokestack rising from the roof. There are two tall masts, one ahead of the cabin and one behind, and there are cranes on the masts. A lifeboat is hung from the side of the cabin at right. There is another similar steamer in the background at left, and two large sailing vessels are anchored in the background at right.
