Description
Photograph of San Diego's Fifth Street looking south between E Street and F Street, ca.1903. The sidewalks on both sides of the street are extremely crowded, especially on the right side of the picture, where the only visible nonhuman objects are utility poles. Parked on the side of the road are several horse-drawn carriages with baskets and boxes, while in the middle of the street there are three crowded street cars, the closest of which is stopped and loading passengers. There are tall buildings on both sides of the street. There are several legible signs, including "Kodak Finishing", "To pavilion", "Toys", "Normandie Unfurnished Rooms", and "[...] St.".
