Description
Photograph of a view of Red Rock Canyon showing flute rock formations, Death Valley, California, ca.1900/1950. A man sits on one of the smaller of the jagged, column-like formations at the lower right, that have been eroded into the rock face. Still more of these formations make up the wall behind him, separated by deep grooves. They are approximately 90 feet tall and extend towards the softer hills in the distance to the left. At their very top, they terminate in a flatter, ungrooved surface.
