Description
Photograph of a view of Third Street, looking east from F Street, San Bernardino, ca.1901. A majority of the buildings along the street are about two to three-stories tall. Many of the stores on the left side of the street have cloth awnings. Horse manure (or mud?) litters the area in the foreground. Horse-drawn carriages and early-model automobiles are parked along the curb. People are walking along the sidewalks. Utility poles line the sidewalks. Mountains are visible in the distance.; Legible signs include: "[...]is Block, [furnish]hed rooms, by the day, week, or month", "employment office, 556", "[...]rical Co.", "Tore", "agency of Santa Fe, laundry", "Cottolene", "furnished rooms", "the grand leader", "baggage", "St. Charles", "Clark's Bakery", "C.N. Damron, atty at law", "U.S. Mail", "hardware plumbing", "Bart[...]", "585 3rd Street, [...] nurseries".
