Description
Photograph of a small statue inside the Kong Chew Chinese Temple in Los Angeles' Chinatown, November 1933. The metallic statue can be seen at center. It has a rectangular base with two dragons on the sides and a tall tower at center. Several small men and horsemen can be seen on the statue. A light-colored ribbon goes from the top of the tower to the ends of the dragons at right and left. In the background, Chinese characters can be seen along the walls.

Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960
Description
The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
