Description
Photograph of the low-altitude aerial view of the 4-level interchange where the Hollywood Freeway (U.S. 101) and the Pasadena/Harbor Freeway (SR 110) meet; Los Angeles, ca.1950-1959. A light-colored freeway runs from the bottom left to the center background of the image. Ramps leading on and off the freeway sit at both the fore- and center-grounds of the image, extending from it to both the right and left sides. The road is situated in a residential area; many blocks of houses and palm trees are visible throughout the image. Another paved road runs horizontally across the bottom of the image. Grand Avenue is running left to right at the bottom. Figueroa Street goes under the freeway. It intersects With Boston Street to the right of the freeway bridges. The view is to the west.

Title
Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960
Description
The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
