Description
Photograph of a view of the intersection of Irolo Street and Wilshire Boulevard in Los Angeles, January 1931. Wilshire runs from the foreground to the background at center and is intersected by Irolo at right. The Wilshire Boulevard Christian Church can be seen at left. It is a large, light colored building with a round stained glass window and tall steeple. Several early automobiles can be seen on the road at center. Small buildings line the street at right, while palm trees can be seen at left. A tall office building is visible in the background at center.; Legible signs include, from left: "Wilshire Blvd. Christian Church", "Sale", "Gaylord", "Irolo" and "Bus Stop".

Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960
Description
The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
