Photograph of aerial view of flooded area of Arroyo Seco at Sycamore Grove, 1938. At left, a wide river can be seen extending from the bottom of the image to the top. Large banks of dirt and mud are visible on either side of the river. At center, what appear to be three large structures can be seen along the right bank. One of the structures is heavily damaged. To the far right, a wide road can be seen parallel to the river. Several automobiles move along the street. Large buildings are also visible to the right of the road. Further to the right, a series of tracks can be seen near a curving roadway. Photoprint reads: "This photograph is loaned to you. Please return to: Illustrator. L.A. City Planning Dept. Rm.361 F City Hall, Los Angeles, California".

Title California Historical Society Collection, 1860-1960

Description The California Historical Society Collection is incomparable for the documentary picture it provides of the growth of Southern California, particularly the development of the Los Angeles region, between 1860 and 1960. The collection contains more than 25,000 photographs. The full archive was placed on long-term deposit at USC in 1990 and includes the Title Insurance and Trust Company Collection, also known as TICOR, and the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection.
