Description
Photograph of interior view of a Chinese store, showing small altar in background, Chinatown, [s.d.]. In the foreground at left, the edge of a counter can be seen. Two pots with flowers sit on the edge of the counter. In the background, decorative wooden walls can be seen on either side of a rectangular entryway. Above the entryway, a large sign consisting of three Chinese characters are visible. Sashes hang down from either side of the sign. Within the small room beyond the entryway, a shrine is visible. At the center of the shrine, what appears to be an altar is visible. A decorative cloth is draped over the altar, and groups of flowers and food sit on its surface. Behind the altar, a large drawing flanked by bouquets of flowers can be seen.

Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960
Description
The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
