Description
Photograph of flooded intersection, showing men standing on their automobiles, [s.d.]. In the extreme foreground at right, what appears to be the back of a street sign can be seen. Water completely envelops the foreground. At left, part of a small shrub emerges above the water's surface. In the background at center, two automobiles can be seen parked in the flooded waters. The water rises halfway up the tires of each automobile. At left, a man stands on a platform being towed while holding a rope in his hands. At right, a man can be seen extending his body above the roof of his car and waving . In the extreme background at left, a row of homes can be seen near several palm trees. At right, a truck sits parked at the center of a road.

California Historical Society Collection, 1860-1960
Description
The California Historical Society Collection is incomparable for the documentary picture it provides of the growth of Southern California, particularly the development of the Los Angeles region, between 1860 and 1960. The collection contains more than 25,000 photographs. The full archive was placed on long-term deposit at USC in 1990 and includes the Title Insurance and Trust Company Collection, also known as TICOR, and the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection.
