Description
Photograph of an aerial view of the City of Santa Maria, California, 1918. The city is composed mostly of low, one- or two-story buildings with flat roofs. There is a broad street vertically bisecting the image; there are several automobiles parked on its edges near the middle of the image, along with a handful of other cars and a streetcar driving in the middle. In the upper left corner of the picture is a neighborhood with dense trees mixed in with the buildings. In the bottom left corner is a rectangular building with a dome on the right side of its flat roof. Legible signs include, from left, "The Bohemian Billiard and Pool Parlors", "Paris Bar", "[...] Pictures", "Motel Branty", and "W. A. Hasland & Co.". Originally, the image was captioned as "Aerial view of the City of San Fernando, 1918".
