Description
Photograph of the wreckage of the Young Hotel in Compton after an earthquake, March 10, 1933. The two-story brick hotel is in the background at center. The front of the building has collapsed, revealing the inner walls and rooms and creating a massive pile of rubble. The back of the hotel appears to be intact. There are several people gathered around the building, including two men digging through the debris and two men conversing in the foreground. There is a large crane at left, and railroad tracks in the foreground at left. Legible signs include, from left to right, "[Mar]shall Service Shell", and "Gas Co. [?] Service".
