Description
Photograph of a panoramic view of the flooded intersection of Jefferson Boulevard and Vermont Street, showing wading pedestrians, ca.1898. The flooded lanes of Jefferson Boulevard run through the centerground of the image, intersecting Vermont Street at center. Pedestrians, among them a boy named Maris Levering who is on his way home from school, wade across Jefferson. A horse-drawn cart that reads "Assayers Goods And Laboratory Supplies. J. W. Braun and Co." sits on Vermont at the intersection. Both streets are lined by residential-type buildings, including a house at 1184 West Jefferson Street. Trees line the flooded sidewalks in the foreground of the image.
