Photograph of an exterior view of a "haunted house" on Juan Street, Chinatown, November 1933. The two-story brick house can be seen at center. A wooden overhang projects out over the porch, while a covered balcony can be seen on the second floor. Large rectangular windows and doors are visible. Large shutters nearly cover all the windows. A sign near the door advertises the fact that the property is for rent. At left, another two-story building can be seen, while at right, a wooden fence is visible.

Title Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960

Description The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
