Description
Photographic portrait of three Indians of the Thundering Herd holding a cow skull, ca.1900. Three Native Americans are pictured astride their horses without saddles. The leftmost man holds a short bow and several arrows in his left hand while placing his other hand on his horse's mane. He wears a leather shirt. The next two men, farther right, hold a cow skull between them, looking at each other. The man in the center holds a hatchet with his other hand and wears a beaded vest that appears to be a type of armor. The rightmost man wears a spotted shirt. The plain is visible in the background.
