Description
Photograph of a construction project in an area filled with dirt and debris, [s.d.]. Broken pieces of piping and wood are strewn across the dirt piles at center. Automobiles sit parked along with horses on a road on the far right. Trees line the far side of the road while electrical poles line the near side. A machine secretes smoke in the background as it moves through the disturbed dirt.

Description
The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
