Description

Israeli dancing demonstration on occasion of the 1963 Statewide Folk Dance Festival organized biennially by the Folk Dance Federation of California, South, held on the Memorial Day holiday, 31 May - 2 June, in Santa Monica. Filmed outside of the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium, Dani Dassa, performs a solo interpretation of Debka Daluna. Born in Jerusalem, trained as a dancer since childhood, settled in Los Angeles in the late 1950s he became internationally known as a performer, choreographer, and teacher of Israeli dances. On the same Statewide Festival weekend, he taught three Israeli dances in a workshop for recreational folk dancers and school educators.
