Description
Photograph of the painting "Votive Offering to Cupid" by Greuze, ca.1765. A young woman dressed in a flowing gown leans on the shrine to cupid, which is shaped much like a fountain, with a statue of cupid at its apex. The statue has an arm outstretched, offering a crown in the direction of the young woman. Doves and bundles of flowers are seen to the right, left as offerings for cupid. In the background, what appears to be the ocean can be seen through a small opening in forest-like foliage.
