Description
Photograph of the painting "Arrival of the Shepherds" by LeRolle depicting spectators at the birth of Christ, 1885. Persons who appear to be Joseph and Mary are pictured here in the right background, illuminated by a beam of light while they tend to what is presumably the infant Jesus. Farther in the foreground at right, a donkey can be seen lounging in the shadows. Focal to the piece but draped in shadow as well, to the left four shepherds wait and watch in awe from behind one of the beams of the manger. The picture file card also lists this partially as "Adoration of the ...".
