Description
Photograph of the painting "Christ and the Adultress" by Hofmann, [s.d.]. Christ is pictured at center with a young woman at his feet, surrounded by a crowd. A halo around his head, he gestures downward towards her, his face turned to the right seemingly emploring those around him, who together are rather motley. Clerics can be seen in their ceremonial robes to either side of Christ, while other spectators range from a Roman guard to a naked child. The marble arches of the building they are inhabiting fill the background.
