Description
Photograph of "Life's Burden" a painting by Arthur Burrington depicting an old woman carrying a large bundle of wood on her back, [s.d.]. The old woman is shown making her way through a trench which is surrounded to either side by brambles. She has hoisted a large conical basket onto her back, in which she carries wood. In the upper lefthand side of the image, a glowing cross can be seen, placed in the near distance of the woman's apparent path. Birds fly off in the clear sky of the distance, suggesting that the ocean is perhaps nearby.
