Description
Photograph of a view of Perino's Restaurant and the surrounding shops on Wilshire Boulevard in Los Angeles, 1940. Perino's can be seen on the first floor of a large building at right. The building is two stories high and has a rounded corner at left. Two chimneys can be seen protruding from the shingled roof. In the background at left, a tall tower can be seen. A streetlight can be seen at center, and several automobiles can be seen parked along the side of the road.; Legible signs include, from left to right: "Elizabeth Arden", "3933", "The Bachelors", "3911", "Perino's Restaurant", "and "Allen Rucff Architect".

Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960
Description
The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
